Content is King
Posted by Thomas @ 2:21 PMTell  Print

The Internet is a vast cyberspace with no boundary. It is unfriendly and confusing to a lot of people. Despite the hype that it is the Information Superhighway, finding the right information is not always easy. Using popular tools such as search engines and directories does not always work well because of their way of indexing information. Trying to get specific information you need from the search engines is often like drinking from a fire hydrant--you get too many links that seem to point to nowhere. While there are tools being developed to help pinpoint relevant information, your Web site users would appreciate your taking the lead to gather and organize the information they need. They expect you to become a valuable information provider and a resource center.

The first thing to know about Web marketing, and this is surely no secret, is that content is absolutely the most important aspect of Web site structure. If the content of your site is unappealing, you may initially get many users, but very few of them will come back. Instead, they will go to those Web sites that offer more useful and interesting information. Most Web content is offered for free to entice potential users. Although there is no profit from such content, you can expect users to browse through the descriptions and listing of your products and services. The free information also helps to establish you as an expert and creates goodwill with users. When you have useful and meaningful information that people need, many will be drawn to your Web site. They will bookmark your page, link your site to theirs, and tell everyone about your site.

Using content to attract people to your site is a very effective and acceptable way of marketing your Web site. The Internet culture is traditionally against unsolicited advertising. Inappropriate ads can alienate potential customers and generate angry responses. It is to your advantage to use well-chosen content to attract users to your Web site where you can sell your ideas, products, and services directly to them.
